With the progress of society, technology, and culture, the safety of mechanical locks has become increasingly inadequate to meet the needs of the people. At this time, intelligent locks have emerged. It has higher safety and more advantages than traditional mechanical locks. The advantages of electronic smart locks (including password locks, card locks, fingerprint locks, iris locks, etc.) as a new generation of recognition technology are becoming increasingly apparent, and they will gradually replace mechanical locks as the new protagonist in the lock industry.
The definition and definition of smart locks are their so-called "intelligent" features at the technical and functional levels, including recognition, memory, learning, and other aspects. Smart locks in the concept of the masses refer to various types of key/card/code lock with contact/non-contact/remote control, as well as password key lock.
Real Time Clock (RTC) plays an important role as a steward in smart lock applications. The occurrence of events such as opening, closing, normal, and abnormal doors will generate a time signal, which cannot be separated from the key role of RTC. The RTC provided by EPSON has the function of independently completing timing or event recording. At present, many electronic products have clock timing functions, such as digital products such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets that are commonly used in our daily lives, which are integrated with real-time clocks.

There are various types of RTC products, which can be classified according to packaging size, clock accuracy, additional functions, interface methods, standby power consumption, etc. In terms of product structure, it can be divided into two types: built-in crystals and external crystals. Products with built-in crystal oscillator structures in RTC are usually crystal oscillators with an internal frequency of 32.768kHz. RTC external crystal oscillators generally use 32.768kHz quartz crystal oscillators, and the cost of RTC external to crystals is relatively low, but various problems often arise. So most RTC products nowadays use built-in crystal oscillator structures. EPSON can provide RTC products with built-in 32.768kHz crystal oscillators, as well as various interfaces and other additional functions.
