Epson 4-pin high-frequency low jitter crystal oscillator SG2016CBN/SG2520CBN selection information

Unlike SG2016VGN and SG2520EHN six pin multi output low jitter high-frequency differential crystal oscillators. Epson's two SG2016CBN and SG2520CBN series, which will begin mass production in the second half of 2024, do not rely on the six pin differential output method to achieve high precision and low jitter characteristics. Instead, they have improved the process technology based on the universal 4-pin active crystal oscillator, and the output waveform is CMOS instead of LVDS and LV-PECL. With the rapid development of digital media, communication network devices have increasingly high requirements for image and audio transmission. In order to better meet this demand, Epson has officially released the SG2016CBN and SG2520CBN series of high-frequency, low jitter crystal oscillators. They adopt Epson's new low-noise integer N phase-locked loop technology (Integer NPLL), supporting high-frequency ranges from 75MHz to 170MHz, with a minimum full temperature frequency tolerance of only ± 15ppm, a maximum operating temperature of 125 ℃, and a typical low jitter value of only 0.3ps, making them very suitable for applications that require high-frequency, low jitter clocks, such as network devices and image/audio transmission. The two have the same performance in terms of accuracy, phase noise, power consumption, current, pin configuration, etc., with the main difference being the difference in external dimensions.

Performance characteristics

-Example and Explanation of Number: SG2016CBN 156.250000MHz TJJSA (2016 156.25MHz) 50ppm@-40 ~+125℃,1.8V/3.3V)

-Size: SG2016CBN: 2.0x1.6x0.6mm; SG2520CBN:2.5x2.0x0.74mm

-Frequency range (fo): 75MHz to 170MHz;

-Standard frequency values: Currently, there are four standard frequencies in mass production: 100MHz, 125MHz, 150MHz, and 156.25MHz. The standard frequency is for shelf products, which can be quickly ordered. Other frequencies can be generated, but the lead time is longer.

-Power Supply Voltage (VCC): 1.62V to 3.63V

-Current consumption (ICC): 12.5mA typical value/16.6mA maximum value (fo=156.25MHz, VCC=3.3V), 12.4mA maximum (fo=125MHz, VCC=3.3V)

-Full temperature frequency tolerance (f_tol): ± 25xppm/50ppm (-40 ° C to+125 ° C)/± 15ppm (-40 ° C to+105 ° C)

-Phase jitter (tPJ): 0.3ps (typical value) (offset frequency: 12kHz to 20MHz)

-Pin count: 4, with the first pin available as OE or SE. When selecting, it is important to determine the model.
