Epson Semiconductor has developed a new power efficient flash microcontroller unit (MCU) and ARM-M0+processor.
The S1C31W65 is the latest product in the popular S1C31W series, which features a single-chip MCU with an integrated LCD driver. It is the first multifunctional microcontroller that supports segmented LCD display drivers. Epson plans to produce 200000 units per month when mass production begins in August 2020.
Industrial equipment and consumer electronics are increasingly equipped with IoT enabled systems that support multiple functions. They require high-performance processing while still maintaining low current consumption. In order to meet these market demands, Epson utilizes its low leakage current and low current consumption technology, as well as the Cortex-M0+processor used in the arm, to expand and upgrade the S1C31 series MCU, which provides high performance with minimal current consumption.
The operating frequency of S1C31W65 is as high as 33 MHz, providing the highest performance in the
S1C31 series. In sleep mode 1, its power consumption is only 0.3 μ A, and its operating frequency is 130 μ A/MHz. In addition, Epson also utilizes its iconic display driver technology to provide LCD drivers that can drive up to 416 segments. The internal power circuit 3 can generate the bias power required to drive the LCD panel, so the display quality is not affected by the remaining battery power. In addition, the driving voltage is adjusted by software. MCU supports LCD contrast adjustment and LCD panels with different voltages.
The S1C31W65 has a large number of peripheral circuits, including various timers, real-time clocks (RTC), R/F converters, A/D converters, and temperature sensors. It supports a working temperature of up to 105 ℃ and a working voltage of 1.8 V to 5.5 V, making it very suitable for industrial equipment and consumer electronics products that require induction.
Epson is committed to helping its customers improve their product performance by utilizing Epson's efficient, compact, and precision technology solutions.
