With the continuous progress of modern technology, the intelligence and precise control of household
appliances have become possible and necessary. As a common household appliance, microwave ovens have particularly strict requirements for frequency components in their control systems. The commonly used microwave oven has a timing function, which means that every time we adjust it to three minutes, five minutes, or ten minutes, the system will calculate over time. In fact, this is also the effect of the 32.768K crystal. In the official language of the crystal oscillator industry, all timekeeping products use the 32.768K plug-in or SMT series, and high-end electronic products use SMT crystal oscillators. Nowadays, the number of electronic products using plug-in crystal oscillators is decreasing, and there are signs that plug-in crystal oscillators are gradually withdrawing from the crystal oscillator market.
The Epson MC-306 crystal oscillator from Japan is a 32.768k crystal oscillator, a four legged SMT crystal oscillator, with a small volume size of 8.0x3.8m black ceramic packaging and a quartz crystal resonator with beveled edges. It is a passive crystal oscillator and operates at temperatures ranging from -40 ℃ to+85 ℃. It has the characteristics of small volume, lightweight, heat resistance, and environmental resistance, and is widely used for timing (time reference), clocks, smartphones, instruments, microwaves, air conditioners, refrigerators, tablets, and more.
The high frequency stability ensures that the MC-306 crystal oscillator can provide accurate clock signals for the control system of the microwave oven. This significantly improves the accuracy and effectiveness of cooking for microwave ovens that require precise control of heating time and power, ensuring uniform heating and taste of food.
In addition to using 32.768K crystal oscillators, microwave ovens also use ordinary quartz crystal oscillators and ceramic crystal oscillators. What is called ordinary quartz crystal oscillators? That is to say, conventional SMT crystal oscillators such as 7050, 5032, 2520, and 2016 can be used not only in microwave ovens, but also in smart air conditioners, washing machines, and low energy air conditioners. After all, ordinary quartz crystal oscillators have stable performance, small size, and reasonable price. Therefore, MC-306 crystal oscillators are not suitable for household appliances. Due to their ceramic surface, they have advantages in storage, but they are less prone to corrosion in atmospheric environments
