As a leading provider of real-time clock solutions, EPSON has launched the real-time clock module RX8010SJ to meet market demand. This real-time clock module not only has a high cost performance ratio, but also has impressive overall performance. At the same time, it integrates calendar function for event tagging, making it very suitable for application in the increasingly competitive security industry products.

Due to its particularity, security products not only require significant cost reduction, but also have high stability and reliability. Due to the requirements for event recording and timing, security products need to integrate real-time clock units to provide continuous, stable, and accurate clock timing.

Wide operating temperature range from -40 to+85 ° C

Even though most security products are used in semi outdoor environments, such as houses, hallways, and other partially obstructed environments, the environmental conditions are not very extreme. But due to its wide range of applications, many of them are in high temperature or cold areas. Therefore, as its core component, providing a continuous and stable "heartbeat" for the product, the real-time clock module must be able to consider all application scenarios to ensure that the product can operate stably under any working condition. Traditional real-time clock circuits often adopt discrete forms, with a large number of peripheral devices that are affected differently by environmental temperature, resulting in significant fluctuations in overall circuit parameters under extreme environmental temperature conditions, which seriously affects the stable operation of real-time clock circuits.

The RX8010SJ integrates calibrated 32.768kHz crystals, IC control units, and other components into a very small package through a new packaging process, without the need for external devices, greatly reducing the impact of external devices on the stable operation of real-time clock circuits. Enabling it to have a wide operating temperature range of -40~+85 ℃ can ensure that security products can achieve continuous and stable accurate clock timing under these environmental conditions.

Typical operating current as low as 160nA

Security products need to be able to maintain stable operation of the system for a period of time by switching to a backup power source even when the main power supply is disconnected, in order to record events and status. However, due to cost considerations, backup power sources are generally not large and require high system power consumption. Of course, traditional real-time clock circuits can also have lower operating currents, but they are generally at the uA level, and there is still room for further improvement. The RX8010SJ benefits from the C-MOS process, further improving its energy efficiency and having a typical operating current as low as 160nA at a 3V operating voltage. Compared to the past, the power consumption has been reduced by nearly 10 times, which can greatly reduce the demand for backup power, further reduce costs for the system, improve cost-effectiveness, and provide strong support.
