What are the characteristics of Epson HUD chips?
Screen correction:
Due to the inclination and curvature of the windshield, direct projection can cause distortion of the image. The Epson HUD chip uses mature correction technology to preprocess the image, allowing it to be beautifully projected onto the windshield.
Security measures:
Due to HUD imaging on windshields or roads, if data or navigation instructions are incorrect, it can easily mislead driving and cause traffic safety accidents. In order to enhance security attributes, Epson HUD chips are equipped with multiple monitoring functions:
1. Host communication, register signal monitoring
2. Video data, resolution monitoring
3. Clock signal monitoring
4. Multi regional blinding monitoring

2. Local dimming: Real time calculation of the image, dynamically adjusting the backlight brightness of the area based on the image content, increasing contrast, improving safety, and reducing power consumption.

Why does the HUD system require a gyroscope?
In AR-HUD, navigation information needs to be presented on the road. During driving, it is inevitable to encounter undulations on the road surface, causing navigation instructions to deviate from the actual environment. Adding a gyroscope to the HUD module can compensate for attitude deviation and maintain stable image position.
We recommend using Epson automotive grade gyroscopes that comply with AEC-Q200 certification, with multiple packaging and interfaces to choose from. The recommended models are the XV4001 series (XV4001BD/BC, XV40010KD/KC)
Epson's automotive grade crystal oscillator makes HUD more stable
High performance crystal oscillators are essential for the stable operation of chips. Epson's crystal oscillators have the characteristics of high reliability, low power consumption, and small packaging, and have passed AEC-Q200 certification, making driving more reassuring. Recommend using SG2016CAA and SG2520CAA programmable active crystal oscillators with HUD chips.
HUD can greatly improve the driving experience and safety assurance. Although it is currently more common in mid to high end models, we believe that with the maturity of technology and the decrease in costs, it will definitely become a standard feature in cars in the future.
