Epson's flagship programmable crystal oscillator series products, SG-8101 series and SG-9101 series. Compared to Epson's original products, The SG-8101 series and SG-9101 series have a larger operating temperature range and wider application space, with power consumption reduced by 50%. At the same time, the frequency stability of the SG-8101 series has been improved by 66%. By using the SG Writer II programming software, users can program the SG-8101 series and SG-9101 series spread spectrum oscillators, and the SG-9101 series spread spectrum oscillator can effectively reduce electromagnetic interference in the spectrum.

These two products are increasingly being used in small electronic devices under various extreme conditions, including wilderness survival and industrial equipment. The continuous growth of this demand has led to the need for oscillators with good temperature and frequency stability. LC oscillation has a wide frequency range, simple and flexible circuit, low cost, and is easy to achieve sine wave output and adjustable frequency output. However, the frequency stability of LC oscillation is low, and the frequency stability can only reach the order of 10-3-10-5, while the temperature drift is relatively large. The oscillation frequency of quartz crystal oscillators is closely related to their shape, material, cutting direction, and other factors. Due to the very stable physical properties of quartz crystals, their coefficient of thermal expansion is very small, and their oscillation frequency is also very stable. Meanwhile, due to the precise control of its geometric dimensions, its resonant frequency is also very accurate.

Epson has developed the SG-8101 series and SG-9101 series using various effective and precise technologies, such as QMEMS technology, semiconductor technology, and crystal oscillator temperature compensated frequency correction (TCXO) technology.

Compared with Epson's early products, both new series of products have the same programmability in frequency and other parameters, and their operating temperature range reaches 105 ℃, which is an increase compared to previous products. The packaging size of SG-8101 and SG-9101 series products can reach a minimum of 2.5mm × 2.0mm, which can better meet the space saving requirements of equipment manufacturers. In addition, oscillators can be packaged in several commonly used sizes: 3.2mm × 2.5mm, 5.0mm × 3.2mm, and 7.0mm × 5.0mm.

Compared with the original product, the SG-8101 series has reduced current power consumption by 50% and improved frequency stability by 66%. Due to the use of a spreader, the power consumption of the SG-9101 series has been reduced by 75% compared to the original product. By using SG Writer II programming software, users can program the output frequency of this product to meet technical requirements.

These oscillators are widely used in various environments. They will provide excellent performance and lower power consumption for products with short development cycles and small-scale production.

*1. SG Writer II is an optional component that can also be updated for free. It supports existing products SG-8002 and SG-8018 series, SG-8200 and SG8201 series, as well as SG-8101 and SG-9101 series.
